Factory letter states this revolver, with Hartford address, shipped September 8th, 1887 to Colt's London Agency. It is listed as a 7-1/2", blue, .44-40 with rubber grips. Revolver remains in that configuration. Features the etched panel Colt Frontier Six Shooter, blue and case colored finish, eagle hard rubber grips with matching etched number in right panel, and fire blued screws. This revolver features English inspector marks on every cylinder flat along with frame and barrel. Has a beautiful, totally readable etched panel. CONDITION: Barrel retains approximately 75-80% of the bright factory high polish blue finish. Rod housing has all high polish blue on top, worn patina on right side. Flashes of original blue on trigger guard and backstrap. 15% case colored on left side of frame at forward section; matching amount on right side. Right side of frame shows some light evidence of cleaning. Cylinder is basically grey patina with nearly all the blue in the flutes. Traces of color on hammer. Generous amounts of fire blue on screws. Eagle grips are near mint. Indexes and locks up like new with all four Colt clicks. Mirror near mint bore. Extremely nice etched panel as a stand alone gun, but this rare offering comes housed in a specially made London oak case lined in green velvet with an original nickel plated shoulder stock, Churchill oil bottle, ebony turnscrew and wooden handled cleaning rod. Shoulder stock retains 98% original nickel finish. Colt trade label on inside lid. Incredibly rare combination of cased etched panel and shoulder stock in a case designed specifically for the set. A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire such a set.
