27-1/8" barrels with single standing express rear sight and German silver blade front, are unmarked as to maker. Rear portion of rib and top of action are stamped with crowned "V" proof denoting that this gun was made before 1891. Round bodied forward pivoting lever action is fitted with back spring locks with serpentine non-rebounding hammers. There are no marks or engraving on any metal surfaces. Steel trigger guard has inset scrolled wood tail. Front trigger is set. Plain European walnut stock measures 13-5/8" over steel buttplate. Serial number 2712 is on buttplate and on bottom of barrel. Point pattern checkering is at grip, and on captive forend which attaches to barrels with sliding bolt through oval German silver escutcheons. Weight: 7 lbs 1 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Barrels retain most of an old re-blue. There are traces of case hardening color on action and lockplates. Stocks retain most of their original finish, considerably worn. Checkering is worn and is smooth on left side of forend. Rifle bore is very fine with some light pitting. Shotgun bore is shiny but appears to have active rust at breech end. Gun is accompanied by an old carrying strap, and a really neat wraparound leather sleeve to protect action and locks from inclement weather. Sleeve is missing two buttons. MGM 95.
