Non-engraved action case colored action is fitted with double set triggers and a nickel-plated Pope style three finger lever. The pistol grip buttstock is checkered. Buttplate is the correct Pope special buttplate for this model. Barrel is full octagon, No. 4 weight. Barrel is marked Stevens-Pope, caliber not shown but is believed to be .28-30. Cast before use to confirm. Stevens forearm is nicely checkered, of the two screw design, and is fitted with a Stevens-Pope palm rest with a nickel plated base. The Pope barrel number is 1384, no code present. Rifle is fitted with a globe front sight, Stevens-Pope tang rear sight, and a Stevens scope No. 475, fitted with a Pope rib. This rifle was originally owned by Frank Bartlett, a famous collector from Huntington, West Virginia. The consignor bought Bartlett's entire collection in the late 1960's. CONDITION: Rifle remains in extraordinarily fine condition, showing little use. Action shows almost all of its original bright case color. Pope lever shows minor flaking of the nickel. Buttstock shows only the most minor scratches and handling marks. Buttplate retains almost all of its original nickel finish. Barrel shows minor wear at sharp edges but has almost all the original blue showing. One or more lenses are missing from the scope. Good action, excellent bore. TR
