Scroll engraved action, not etched, double set triggers, lever with typical wood insert found on a 54. Action, lever, and buttplate have been blued. Sights are a globe front and Stevens-Vernier with wind gauge in rear. Barrel is a 30" half octagon, #3 weight, with excellent blue. Barrel is numbered to the action. Stevens forearm is of the two screw style and is fitted with a palm rest, probably by an old time custom maker. Forearm is also checkered in a coarse pattern. CONDITION: Stock finish is very good but the checkering is coarse and somewhat crude for this model. Stock has a few tiny cracks where the action and buttstock come together, and what looks like a repair on the right side of the wrist near the action. Barrel has excellent blue with some high edge wear. Good action, very good bore. One screw on forearm is stripped and will need to be fixed but most of the finish remaining. This rifle could use a good, through cleaning. TR
