Case colored action with double set triggers and a nickel plated Pope lever. Face of the action is marked "P" for Pope model. Buttstock is checkered and has a nickel plated buttplate. Checkered Stevens single screw forearm is fitted with a Stevens-Pope palm rest on a nickel base. Barrel is 28", full octagon, #4 weight, and marked with Stevens Pope number 1817. Sights are Stevens wind gauge front and a Vernier style rear without windage adjustment. Scope is a Stevens #338 in Stevens mounts. CONDITION: Overall condition is very fine on a rarely found rifle. Action shows almost all of its case color, although faded. Buttstock shows some minor dents and dings from handling. Buttplate retains virtually all of its nickel plating, except for where it would have been resting on the floor. Forearm has very minor marks if any. Barrel retains 90% of the blue with most of the loss on the sharp edges. Scope needs cleaning. Action is good, bore is excellent. TR
