Action is engraved with a bear on one side and deer on the other, fitted with double set triggers and correct lever for 54 style with wood panel inserts. Face of action is marked 54. Buttstock is nicely checkered. Buttplate is correct for model. 30" half octagon, #4 weight, barrel marked with the caliber, .32-40. Stevens forearm is of the two screw style and is fitted with a nickel plated based palm rest. Globe front sight, Stevens-Vernier rear sight. Scope is a Lyman 5A. CONDITION: Traces of case color remain on action, mostly silver. Traces of case color remain on lever with some discoloration. Buttstock retains almost all of its original finish with one signficiant scratch on lefthand side. Traces of case color left of buttplate. Significant wear to the blue on the bottom side of the barrel from shooting over a rest; blue also thinning at muzzle. Otherwise, blue is strong with wear at sharp corners. Forearm has some light handling marks and the nickel palm rest base is starting to flake. Good optics that need cleaning. Good action, excellent bore. Lower tang screw needs replacement. A fine, attractive, classic 54 Stevens. TR
