According to the factory letter, this revolver was shipped with a 5 - 1/2" barrel in .41 caliber, with blue finish, grips not listed, to large Colt St. Louis distributor Simmons Hardware Corp, famous for sending guns Westward. This fine early and scarce .41 Colt saw low production numbers. The barrel legend is razor sharp as is the two line patent date on left side of frame. Matching serial numbers on frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Type 1 hammer, type 2 ejector rod head. Caliber designation on left side of barrel. CONDITION: Barrel and ejector rod housing retains approximately 50% Colt blue. Case colors on frame have mostly darkened out with small areas of color. Cylinder retains approximately 10% original blue and is basically a soft patina. Screws are true with some nice nitre blue. Has all four Colt clicks. Grips are excellent but unnumbered. Bore is near mint with strong rifling. Good action. The blackpowder frame .41 Colt is extremely difficult to find and this is a fine example.
