Stevens 44 - 1/2 fitted with a #4 loop lever and double set triggers. Case color is rippled pattern. Buttstock of figured American walnut, pistol grip style, non checkered. Oil stained near the action. #3 buttplate has been reblued. Stevens forearm is of the two screw style, non-checkered. 30" half octagon barrel, #4 weight, marked J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company. Also marked "SPECIAL STEEL FOR/SMOKELESS POWDERS". Wind gauge front sight and a Stevens-Vernier rear with windage. Accompanying this rifle is an extra barrel and reloading tools. Extra barrel is 30", half octagon, #4 weight, and serial numbered to the action. Extra barrel is marked J. Stevens Arms and Tool, and is believed to be chambered in .33-40. Cast before use. Fitted with a partially completed replacement forearm of a two screw design. Front sight is a wind gauge front sight missing aperture, drilled and tapped for a scope. Display card says that the barrel was rebored by Goodman in the left hand Pope style and uses .32-40 brass. Reloading equipment is a set of RCBS loading dies in .32-40, Simmons decapping tool, nose pour Hoch mold marked 338220 casts a 220 grain bullet, and nose pour Hoch mold marked 320195, casts a 195 grain bullet. Also included is a Steven's hard rubber buttplate. Also included is a small display card describing the gun. CONDITION: Considerable case color remains on the action. Buttstock appears to have extra finish applied. Forearm shows extensive wear from handling. Good action, excellent bore. Barrel retains over 90% of the original blue. Extra barrel blue retains over 90% blue but there is some oxidation at the breech end. Bore is excellent with left hand twist rifling, similar to Pope's, but is unmarked. TR
