This rifle was custom built and is referred to as a Gemmer style, which is basically a half stock sporting rifle with exposed cleaning rod and thimbles. The basis for this rifle is an original Remington Rolling Block large frame No. 1 that has been beautifully scroll engraved and case hardened. It sports a cast steel extra heavy octagon barrel in caliber .45-70. Features a globe front sight and a long tang sporting rear sight. In addition, it has an original period long range tang sight. The walnut forend is not checkered and features a pewter end cap, barrel retaining wedge and escutcheons. Walnut buttstock is beautifully checkered with extra grain wood, bull nose and case colored Remington buttplate. Engraving was done by a master engraver as evidenced by the quality of workmanship. CONDITION: The upper right area of forend at frame has a 1" hairline crack, otherwise wood is near new. Metal retains virtually all of the expertly reapplied finish. Original serial number was 9361. Strong, as new rifled bore. This is a beautiful, custom Remington rifle that should be as much fun to shoot as it is handsome.
