26" tapered round barrel is marked "NIEDNER RIFLE CORP DOWAGIAC, MICH" on top left (Barrel number 1381). Barrel is fitted with nicely shaped case hardened scope blocks holding Litschert 8 X Spot Shot target scope in micrometer rings. High wall action with custom finger lever, single set trigger, and lightweight hammer is marked with Winchester information on top tang and with Winchester proof on receiver ring. Action is silver finished and engraved with near full coverage large open shaded acanthus scroll surrounding relief gold inlaid birds of prey on sides; a perched hawk is on left, with another, in flight, carrying a rabbit on right. Stocks of quilted figure American walnut are checkered at grip and on long forend with large horn tip. Buttstock measures 13 - 3/8" over smooth horn buttplate, and is also fitted with a horn grip cap. Weight: 9 lbs 12 oz. CONDITION: Excellent, as custom finished, with only a few light handling marks in all wood and metal finishes. Bore is excellent. Mechanically fine. Scope has a number of scratches on tube. Optically good. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Francis Brown. MGM 105.
