27" heavy round barrel is marked ".308 Win" and "C. C. JOHNSON" at breech end. Muzzle is fitted with scope block for Lyman globe sight. Scope blocks are installed holding Fecker 6 X target scope number 8181 (?) in micrometer mounts. Takedown thick side Winchester high wall action has damascened lever and breech block, top of receiver stippled. Standard Winchester markings are on top tang. Very finely flame figured American walnut ogee pistol grip target buttstock most likely by John Oberlies, measures 13 - 1/2" over his style brass buttplate (not marked). Nicely sculpted, schnabeled forend has inset ebony tip. Weight: 12 lbs. 1 oz. CONDITION: Appears to be a work in progress, with finishing and sanding marks on old refinish of metal. New stocks retain nearly all of their new oil finish. Bore is excellent. Scope is very fine with scratches, optically a bit cloudy. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Francis Brown. MGM 116.
