28" one third octagon barrel in .40-60 fitted with standing leaf rear sight and windage adjustable globe front, along with a 26" barrel in .25 with 4" octagonal breech section, also sighted with standing rear and windage adjustable front, blued, and unmarked except for serial numbers. Case hardened action with tall central hammer and fitted with Hadley patent rimfire device is marked with patent dates and "1873" on left side, and Massachusetts Arms information on right. A Maynard patented tang sight is installed. Fine stump figured American walnut checkered pistol grip buttstock measures 13 - 3/8" over nickel plated Swiss buttplate. Matching checkered forends are on each barrel set. .40 caliber barrel weight: 8 lbs. 10 oz. CONDITION: Fine. .40 caliber barrel retains 60-70% original blue, .25 caliber has 70-75%. Action retains 40-50% original case hardening color, faded and darkened. Stocks retain 80-90% original french polish finish, worn through on high points and at comb, checkering lightly worn. Buttplate retains perhaps half of its nickel plating. Bores are fine to very fine: .25 caliber bore has some pitting, .40 caliber bore is dark in grooves toward breech end (may clean). Mechanically fine. MGM 109.
