28" dovetailed barrels are engraved "Wm Cashmore. Maker. Birmingham." on unmatted portion of matted swamped game rib, with extension. Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 - 1/2" chambers. Case hardened boxlock action features automatic safety, Greener crossbolt third fastener, and double triggers. Action is engraved with 70% coverage nicely cut small scroll. "Wm Cashmore" is on each side. Blued top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard have matching scroll. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Attractively marbled and nicely figured European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 - 1/4" over Silver type pad. Stock features drop points, point pattern checkering at grip, and a vacant gold shield on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend with inlet steel tip has Deeley release. CONDITION: Fine. Barrels retain approximately 80% old re-blue over many light nicks and scratches. Action retains perhaps as much as 30% original case hardening color where protected. Stocks retain nearly all of an old oil refinish over numerous marks, checkering nicely re-cut. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. A nice handling game gun by this highly regarded maker, that measures quite well. MGM 122.
