Case hardened action fitted with a very unusual sidelever which extends out, around, and under the trigger guard. From the quality of work, it appears as though it may be factory made as a prototype, although it is unclear. Action is also fitted with Remington double set triggers. Buttstock is of a pistol grip design, checkered. Buttplate, Swiss style, is nickel plated. The forearm is uncheckered with a metal forearm cap, nickel plated. The barrel under the forearm is marked 18550, .25-20, and 8052, which matches the serial number of the action. The 28" barrel, half octagon, is marked Remington Arms Company and is number 3 weight. The front sight is a Remington windage adjustable and the rear is a short staff Remington-Vernier style. A 24" unmarked scope is mounted on the gun. CONDITION: Some color remaining on action. Buttstock has scattered light handling marks except for one significant dent behind the pistol grip. A competent woodworker should be able to steam it out. Buttplate retains almost all of its nickel plating. Forearm has only the most minor handling marks with thinning nickel. Barrel has the majority of blue although thin at muzzle and on the sharp edges. Front sight has some patination on one side. Good action, excellent bore. Optics are good but may require cleaning. TR
