Fitted with special order double set triggers and two trigger lever. Face of the action stamped 45. Buttstock is straight grip, uncheckered, made of fairly plain American walnut. Buttplate is a case colored number 3 heavy Swiss. Stevens forearm is of a two screw design, non-checkered, and fitted with a Stevens-Pope palm rest on a nickel plated base. The finish on the forearm does not match that of the buttstock, however, serial number on the forearm matches the action. Stevens-Pope barrel is Pope barrel number 1670. 30", half octagon, number 4 weight, marked Stevens-Pope etc.. Front sight is a globe, rear sight is a Stevens-Pope. False Muzzle is marked 1670, correctly matched to the bore. Brass bullet starter is also scratched 1670, albeit lightly. CONDITION: Case coloring on action is still quite bright, while little finish remains on the lever. Stock finish is excellent with just a few dings and handling marks. Fair amount of case color remaining on the buttplate. Forearm is in excellent condition with only the most minor handling marks. Excellent bore. Barrel shows almost all of the original blue with a little wear at the corner of the octagons. This rifle is a very nice condition Pope that retains its matched false muzzle and starter. A very nice false muzzle outfit in excellent condition. TR
