Heavy octagonal steel barrel, top flat stamped "D. DOUGLASS" on top flat. Flat percussion lock is stamp-engraved with designs and stamped “Henry Parker/Warranted” in center. This extremely ornate and attractive rifle has a full-length figured maple stock with much of its original finish and decorated with 34 engraved silver inlays. Stock is of familiar Huntingdon style with brass furniture including a finely engraved four-piece patchbox with pierced final. Full sideplate is engraved foliate scrolls. Features include double set triggers. PROVENANCE: Collection of Woody Frey. CONDITION: Very good with no restoration, untouched condition. Barrel retains a grey patina with some corrosion at breech. Lock retains a matching patina with some scattered freckling. Markings are excellent. Mechanism needs some adjustment. All inlays are original and intact. Stock retains most of original black finish with some carrying wear and scattered marks from use. A very nice example of an unaltered and highly decorated Kentucky longrifle.
