Uncommon belt pistol with mounted belt hook and folding target tang sight inset in steel tang. Pistol measures 13-1/2" overall with 8" barrel with patent breech and dovetailed German silver front blade sight. Tang fitted with unique adjustable rectangular tang sight that folds into mortise cut into breech. Gun exhibits engraved lock with makers name "JOHN KRIDER" engraved behind hammer. Hammer, breech, escutcheons, trigger guard and screws are are similarily engraved with matching embellishment. Set trigger. Checkered wrist with flat steel buttcap with lanyard stud. 3-1/2" belt hook is mounted on left side of stock. PROVENANCE: Christie’s East, NYC, Lot 69, December 19, 1984 (Old auction tag included). CONDITION: Very good overall, complete and original. Thin traces of finish on barrel which is marked on top flat “PHILADELPHIA”. Walnut stock well fit with scattered light storage marks and some wear to checkering, #522 stamped near belt hook. Mechanically crisp with well defined rifling.
