Fitted with a John Oberlies buttstock and forearm. Buttstock has checkered pistol grip, brass buttplate, and dark oil finish. Large forearm, checkered. Both buttstock and forearm have sling swivels. Barrel is stamped 1137, but no caliber markings are present. Forearm is held on with one screw. 24" barrel, number 4 weight, marked "Niedner Rifle Corp, Dowagiac, Mich." Scope blocks by John Oberlies are mounted with no provisions for iron sights. Caliber is unknown .44 caliber cartridge with a long straight case. Cast before use to check. CONDITION: There are just a few very minor handling marks on the wood. Barrel retains virtually all of its bluing. Excellent bore and action. This is a fine example of a varmint rifle, when your varmint is a bear, bison, or mad elephant. Interesting rifle with an uncommonly found action and probably the largest caliber varmint rifle that Niedner ever made. Factory research shows no information available. TR
