Very lightly engraved action with an unusual pattern. Depiction of rabbit on left side, standing rabbit on right. A very odd silver line cuts across the right side of the action. Fitted with double set triggers and a number 4 loop lever. Face of action stamped 49. Pistol grip buttstock is checkered and has a cheekpiece. Buttplate is a number 3 heavy Swiss, originally case colored. Stevens forearm of the two screw design, checkered, and mounted with a late style Winchester palm rest and base inletted into the forearm. Barrel serial number matches the action. Half octagon, number 3 weight. Front sight is a globe, rear sight is a Stevens-Vernier with windage. CONDITION: Traces of the case color on action remain. Finish on buttstock is excellent with a few scattered dings from handling. No case coloring left on buttplate. An old time repair on the forearm, right side front, is present. Majority of the barrel blue remains with a couple of patches of oxidation just behind the front sight and at the muzzle. Good action, excellent bore. A fine old rifle in a desirable caliber with an unusual engraving pattern. TR
