Case colored Ballard action with double set triggers and a lever normally found on a Model 6. The buttstock is typical of those found on Ballard rifles and modified by Berg of Davenport, Iowa with his wedding band just behind the action and large cast up swept buttplate. The buttstock is checkered. Forearm is missing. The barrel is by A.W. Peterson of Denver. Caliber is believed, but not verified, to be .28-30. Cast before use to confirm. Barrel is full round 30" number 4 weight. Scope is a Winchester A5 with a Litschert attachment. CONDITION: Traces of case color on the action, rest turning to silver. There is a crack in the stock wood behind the action and several areas of grain separation from the stock drying out. Barrel has traces of blue, most of it polished off. Good action, excellent bore. It would not take much work to finish this rifle and turn it into a classic example of an American Schutzen rifle, and Peterson barrels were known to be excellent in their accuracy. TR
