O. A. Bremer was a noted period (1900) custom maker of Schueten rifles and this is a classic example. Thin wall action with double set triggers. Blued action. Custom buttstock with long diamond checkering, pistol grip, cheekpiece, typical of Bremer's work. Buttstock also fitted with a forearm cap. Fitted with a nickel plated buttplate marked O.A. Bremer of San Francisco, Maker on top prong. Underlever is a spurred design. The forearm is Winchester with an ebony insert at the tip, which has faded to a yellowish color. Forearm is checkered and has a custom palm rest installed, probably made by Bremer. Barrel is marked "Manufactured by Winchester", full octagon, spirit level insert in dovetail of barrel, number 4 weight. Front sight is a Winchester wind gauge sans spirit level, rear sight is a Winchester-Vernier tang sight. CONDITION: Action has only minor blemishes and a little wear. Barrel bluing is in excess of 90% with a few rubs, marks, and other spots. Majority of stock finish remains but there are numerous minor handling marks. Forearm is in very good condition with the finish being a little bleached and thinned, possibly from shooting off a rest. Action is good, bore has frosting and has some scattered areas of oxidation.
