Marvelous sporterized custom Springfield 1903 with replacement .22 Hornet barrel. The receiver has been fitted with a Buehler one piece scope base and hosts a Weaver K4W scope. The barrel has been finished to bright blue and is stamped 2 2 H. The bolt has modified for .22 Hornet and has been jeweled, showing evidence of dulling in appearance. Bolt handle has been replaced for low scope clearance, polished to a round knob. The safety has been converted to a Buehler low profile scope safety. The magazine has been converted to a .22 Hornet. The highly figured walnut stock features right hand shadow line cheekpiece, ebony tip, point pattern checkering, checkered steel grip cap, sling eyes, and swivel mounts. The stock measures 13 - 1/4" over Neidner type steel buttplate. CONDITION: Barrel and receiver retain essentially all custom blue finish. The bolt shows lightening of the jeweling. Stocks show evidence of professionally repaired crack directly behind the bolt channel and below the safety. The stock where refinished with a newly applied oil finish flattening areas of checkering. Overall there are very few light subsequent marks. Bore is very fine. Optics are slightly cloudy. Mechanically crisp. JTH
