Classic custom built sporting rifle built on the 98 Mauser platform with a tapered 22 inch sporter weight barrel, fitted with a Redfield banded ramp front sight, and marked "SANTA MONICA CALIF J.LA BANTCHNI MAKER. Drilled and tapped and fitted with a one piece Redfield scope base, 1 inch Redfield rings and Leopold M8-4X Compact gloss finished scope. Soft blue finish overall with a Ulm or Germanic oak leaf engraved receiver and chamber, jeweled bolt body with checkered and engraved bolt handle. Commercial cocking assembly fitted with Buhler flip safety. Traditional FN two stage trigger has been elegantly case colored and checkered on face. Nicely figured walnut stock with cheek rest is finely checkered in a traditional Diamond-H pattern at wrist and forearm. Stock is also fitted with an ebony forend tip, horn butt plate, and scalloped pistol grip cap. The trigger guard and floor plate have been expertly engraved in the matching Germanic oak leaf pattern of the receiver. CONDITION: Very fine with most all blue finish remaining with only trace losses at muzzle and edge wear on trigger guard and high point of bolt. The walnut stock is very fine with several very slight bruises and a very, very small chip at toe of horn butt plate. This classic custom rifle has a very fine bright shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves and would be suitable for most all American game with the exception of only the largest dangerous game. Optics are clear and crisp and action operates properly.
