Octagonal barrel with sights mounted on top and top flat stamped "A. GOMPF LANCASTER". Andrew Gumpf was a gunsmith in Lancaster Borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania between 1829 and 1849. The flat original percussion lockplate has some engraving and it stamped "M. MASLIN / WARRANTED". Plain brass Lancaster County furniture with an engraved four piece patchbox with piercing on finial. German silver rectangular plaque inlaid above cheek piece of full length figured maple stock. Checkered diamond section wrist. CONDITION: Good. Barrel retains a heavy, dark patina with some corrosion at breech. Lock functions well and retains a brown patina with some minor spotting. Fence around hammer face has minor repairs. Brass furniture retains mellow, unpolished patina. Stock retains much of original finish with one small piece of wood professionally replaced and well blended in front of lock. Ramrod is a contemporary replacement. Stock shows some dings and scattered marks.
