With its curled trigger, early Bucks County style sideplate, and form of the buttstock, this rifle was probably made in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Features a two stage smoothbore barrel with brass front sight and notched rear sight. The flat lockplate has a few sprigs of engraving and a roller frizzen. The brass furniture includes a trigger guard terminating in an arrow and a Bucks County style sideplate. The full length figured maple stock is of Buck County form and features a checkered wrist and incised around the top of wrist. Complete with probably period original ramrod. CONDITION: Good. Barrel retains a dark patina and shows some wear, some minor freckling around touch hole and breech. Lock has a heavy, dark patina and is probably a good professional reconversion. Brass furniture shows some wear and scattered marks, retains a mellow patina. Stock retains much of original finish with some scattered marks and minor age cracks. A very attractive late 18th century rifle.
