This beautiful rifle features a full octagon barrel and still retains some blue finish with brown patina coming through. The lock is stamped "H. Shenk, Lancaster, Pa." with decorative engraving. Beautiful walnut half stock features sharp checkering at wrist, double set triggers, pewter accents, engraved buttplate, beautiful coin nickel silver patchbox with detailed engraving. Barrel breech has three alternating bands. This rifle was built by a true master, extremely delicate, all inletting and checkering is master class. Comes with a tigerstripe cleaning rod. You will find fine intricate engraving on the metal of the trigger guard, forend plate, and heel. CONDITION: Lock has nice traces of case colors. Traces of color on upper tang. Right side of stock has slight hairline crack. Condition of this rifle is simply outstanding and one would have to see it to appreciate the amount of original case colors and blue and the quality of the engraving. Fine action and a strong rifled bore with light blackpowder oxidation. One of the best condition half stocks we have witnessed.
