Lot consists of three period books on Custer, two by Lizzie, and three photographic images. The books are as follows: "Following the Guidom" by Elizabeth Custer, printed 1890 by Harper and Brothers, 1st edition, hardbound. CONDITION: Excellent, never offered with dust cover. "Tenting On The Plains" by Elizabeth Custer, published by Harper and Brothers 1895, hardcover. CONDITION: Excellent. The only missing book from Elizabeth Custer is "Boots and Saddles." The final book is called "The Master of the Strong Hearts: A Story of Custer's Last Rally" by Eldridge Brooks, published 1898 by E.P. Dutton. Images include a CDV of General Custer, taken during the Civil War, with his last name misspelled as Custar, and taken after Gettysburg as he is referred to as a General, which he received after Gettysburg. He was a part of the Michigan Brigade, sometimes called the Wolverines, and comprised primarily of 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th Michigan Cavalry. CONDITION: Good, with some chipping. Second image is an 8x10 1868 steel engraving of General Custer taken from a photograph by Brady in a period frame. CONDITION: Excellent with some minor toning. Lastly, is a playbill from Custer's Last Stand by Hal Reid. CONDITION: Rough as torn. We are offering this lot as a great companion piece to the Custer Carbine.
