Proof marks indicate the gun was built in 1980, and it exhibits the superb craftsmanship that Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli became known for - well built guns with best in the world type embellishments sourcing the best Italian engravers that have existed in the world. This example was made with 26-3/4" chopper lump barrels with makers names Dante, Mario, Gian, Poli, Remo, and Tony on rear lug along with makers name and proof marks on barrel flats. Barrel with plain concave top rib and steel front bead. Top of left barrel engraved "Abbiatico & Salvinelli". The semi-beavertail forend, with Anson type release and makers crest in center diamond, is checkered in two point diamond pattern. Finely marbled straight grip buttstock, with tear drops behind action, is checkered in two point pattern through wrist with finely checkered butt. The action is superbly engraved and signed by Pedersoli on left side bottom. Left side shows a beautiful covey of quail in wildflower field scene. Left side of hinge is engraved with tiny landing quail. Bottom of action and trigger plate are wonderfully engraved with large quail in flora and surrounded but gorgeous relief engraved and shaded scroll pattern. This relief engraved scroll extends to the top of the frame, bolsters, some of the edges on the locks, and long trigger guard tang, with the bow being engraved with two quail in a scene. Top lever shows an incredible duck scene with incredible detail of a bird landing in the marsh with others in the background. The right lock shows a marsh scene with two ducks landing and two in nest with more birds circling in background. The quality of the detail is incredible! The gun is housed in its original Nizzoli light brown leather case with red velvet interior. CONDITION: Extremely fine, test fired only. This gun was ordered new by our consignor and has not been fired since he took possession of it. Retains essentially all original finish to both wood and metal surfaces with only the most minute handling and assembly marks. Mechanics are crisp, bores are brilliant and shiny. The case is in very good condition with minor rub marks and soiling. This gun is functional artwork and will be admired for years to come by a most discerning buyer.
