Made in 1982, this handsome little gun was made shortly after Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli set out to build the world’s finest guns. This wonderful gun displays a combination of top notch gunmaking coupled with exceptional embellishment. Finely struck 26" demi-bloc barrels are fitted with matted, ventilated rib, engraved with gold inlaid “Abbiatico & Salvinelli” on left side of top barrel. Bottom flat is stamped with 1982 Italian nitro proofs, serial number, “A&S”, and makers names of Dante, Mario, Remo, Poli, and Tony. Coin finished, low profile, over/under sidelock action is nicely filed and features non-automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold) and single non-selective trigger. “41” is gold inlaid on top strap under top lever. Action is engraved with near full coverage very well cut game scenes with relief scroll on front of action, forend, and trigger guard. On bottom of action of a large woodcock is dropping from a birch tree with other trees and leaves in the scene. Right side of action shows a perfectly executed pointer flushing five quail in a farm scene with fence background. The quail are flushing towards the viewer which gives them real depth and a lifelike feel. Engraver signature "Galeazzi" found at top forward portion of right lock. Left side of action is superbly engraved with three grouse in northern woods scene with evergreen trees in the background. Engraver's signature also noted on this side at bottom center of scene. Bottom of forend iron is gold inlaid and engraved “ABBIATICO” “SALVINELLI”. The quality of this work is exceptional and captures the essence of these animals in their natural environments. Engravers signature, Galeazzi, is at bottom of trigger guard bow on plate. Gorgeous and striking burl figured European walnut straight grip buttstock with checkered wood butt is checkered in two point pattern through the wrist and has tear drops behind locks. Matching ejector forend has slide type release actuated by sliding button fully relief cast slide crest at center diamond. Housed in the original Nizzoli brown leather case with maroon velvet interior. CONDITION: Extremely fine, near mint and test fired only. This gun was ordered new by our consignor and has not been fired. Retains virtually all original finish to wood and metal with only the most minute handling and assembly marks. Case is excellent with minor scrapes and minor soiling.
