Proofed in 1981, this gorgeous little gun was made shortly after Mario Abbiatiatico and Remo Salvinelli set out to build the world’s finest guns. This wonderful gun represents a combination of top notch gunmaking coupled with exceptionally fine embellishment. Both sets of barrels are finely struck 26" demi-bloc barrels are fitted with narrow, matted, ventilated rib, engraved “Abbiatico & Salvinelli” on left side of top barrel. Bottom flat is stamped with 1981 Italian nitro proofs, serial number, barrel set number, and “A&S”. Additionally, on both flats the names of the makers are seen, Dante, Marion, Gian Remo Poli, & Tony. Single non-selective trigger, auto-ejectors. The coin finished, low profile, over/under sidelock action is nicely filed and features non-automatic safety (Gold "S" engraved in front of safety button) and single non-selective trigger. “26” is gold inlaid on top strap under top lever (This number possibly represents “the 26th 28 gauge made”). Action is engraved with incredible Bulino style game scenes by master engraver G. Pedersoli. The left lock is full coverage engraved in a beautiful field edge scene with detailed setter flushing a pheasant which extends on to the hinge where a perfectly executed pheasant is also in lift. The bottom of the action is beautifully engraved with flying fanned grouse in tree scene. Right side of action is engraved with predator fox leaping after two rising quail in detailed meadow and hills scene. Rolled edge trigger guard is engraved with relief scroll and engravers signature, "Pedersoli, Inc." engraved at front of bow on trigger plate. This relief scroll pattern extends to the top of the action and top lever. The nicely figured European walnut straight grip buttstock, with tear drops behind locks, is checkered in two point pattern through the wrist and terminates in a finely checkered butt. The slim forend is checkered in a diamond point pattern with engraved slide latch and makers crest at center. Tops of barrels with small gold "1" and "2" identifying barrel set. Housed in its original Nizzoli brown leather case with red velvet interior. CONDITION: Extremely fine, likely test fired only. Gun retains virtually all original finish to both wood and metal with the exception of an area of beginning freckling on barrel set #2 on right side ahead of chambers, from storage, not from wear. Engraving is crisp. Action is tight as new. Wood with only the very faintest of handling marks. Case is good with scuffing, interior shows some minor wear. Snap caps and oil bottle are tarnished. The quality of engraving on this gun is incredible and cannot be overstated!
