Offered in this lot is an incredible set of 3 guns engraved in world class fashion and would be the epitome of nearly any gun collection! Lot consists of: Gun (A): Proofed in 1975, this finely crafted example certainly represents one of their initial attempts combining the finest gun making with world class embellishment. Beautifully struck 27-1/2" chopper lump barrels are fitted with slightly raised, tapered, concave game rib. Side of left barrel is engraved “ARMI” “FAMARS”. Barrel flats are stamped with “FAMARS”, serial number, 1975 Italian nitro proofs. Coin finished, sidelock action is nicely filed and features non-automatic safety (SICURA engraved), and single trigger. Action is fabulously engraved by Firmo Fracassi who is recognized as one of the world's greatest engravers of all time. Left lock plate shows a large coyote charging after two quail with well executed trees and hills in the background. Right lock shows a fighting cocks type scene with spectacular detail in the birds and trees and mountains in the background. Bottom of action is engraved with large pointer on a flushing quail and is signed "Fracassi, Inc." at bottom of the scene. The level of detail is superb and all of the engraving is surrounded by well cut scroll and floral pattern. Beaded barrel bolsters are floral and scroll engraved as is top lever. Single beaded long tang trigger guard has scroll matching that on action and serial number on tang. Finely figured European walnut straight grip buttstock terminates over checkered wood butt, and features very well cut flat top borderless 2 point pattern checkering on grip and has initials "JEB" inlaid in gold near toe. Matching semi-beavertail ejector forend has Anson release, is checkered in two point pattern with engraved steel tip, and gold inlaid "A&S" company monogram at center. Housed in a black leather case with red felt interior which has A&S logo on top. CONDITION: Extremely fine and unfired since proof. This gun was ordered new by our consignor and has not been fired since proofing. The gun has only the very faintest of handling and assembly markings. Checkering is sharp. Mechanics are fine. Case is very good with light storage soiling, and original cloth sleeves from A&S are also included in the case. These early A&S guns are fabulous works of art and this is an opportunity to buy a trio that is truly test fired only engraved by one of the world's top engravers. Gun (B): 28 gauge. 26" barrels with tapered concave rib with small steel front bead. Top of left barrel tub engraved "Armi Famars". Barrel flats with serial number, Italian nitro proofs, makers name "Famars", along with makers names on rear lug of Dante, Mario, Remo, Poli, and Tony. Semi-beavertail forend is checkered in point pattern with diamond at center with gold inlaid makers crest and has an Anson type push button release which is engraved. Forend iron with scroll at center. Made with single non-selective trigger, auto-ejectors, and non-auto safety. Straight grip buttstock is of fabulously figured European walnut which is almost 3-dimensional in color and particularly striking on right side. Butt is checkered in a two point pattern through the wrist with tear drops behind action and terminates with a checkered butt. Original owners initials "JEB" inlaid in gold towards toe. Rolled edge trigger guard with long tang is nicely scroll engraved with serial number at tang. The coin finished action is fabulously engraved by Fracassi with incredible detail and tell the story of a pheasant hunt. The left lock with beautifully executed pointer flushing a pheasant in woods scene surrounded by light scroll. Right lock with two pheasants, one having just been hit, and another on the wing in woods scene. Bottom of action with a very lifelike pointer retrieving the fallen pheasant in well executed woods scene and surrounded by beautiful rose and scroll. Engravers signature is found at the bottom right of this scene. Beaded fences are also engraved in rose and scroll and action is nicely sculpted on bottom. Housed in its original black leather case with red felt interior with makers crest on top of inside with snap caps and original proof card enclosed. CONDITION: Extremely fine and near mint. This gun was ordered by our consignor and has not been fired, other than test firing at the factory.
