This Revolutionary War musket is restocked in cherry using the barrel, lock, and furniture from a 1762 dated Long Land Pattern Brown Bess Musket. The British barrel is stamped with ordnance proofs on top of breech and has an extremely worn regimental marking that appears to read "13TH REGT" and tang stamped with small crown. The rounded lockplate has a large engraved crown in the center above "GR" and the tail appears to be dated 1762, maker's name is too worn to determine. Standard Long Land Pattern brass furniture. American stock is of cherry and devoid of any carving, except for deep flutes along comb. Period iron ramrod. CONDITION: Good overall, barrel shows some wear and a heavy dark brown patina with some corrosion at breech and some scuffs from recent fitting of bayonet. Lock shows a dark patina with scattered pitting and some screws replaced, including frizzen screw, frizzen spring screw, and probably lock retaining screws. Top jaw and jaw screw are later replacements, as well, but appear to be in original flintlock configuration. Markings worn. Brass shows some scattered marks and unpolished patina. Stock very good with some scattered marks and age cracks. A very nice American stocked regimentally marked musket.
