The Commando was only manufactured from 1942 to 1943 with some parts assembly in 1944 and 1945. They were made for the US Government during World War II. It is your basic six shot, double action, .38 Special with the matte military finish and the brown composite Colt monogram composition grips. The Ordnance bomb is stamped on the upper left of frame. There are no other military marks. Most of these were issued as yard guns at United States war production plants to security forces. CONDITION: Cylinder shows no signs of any burn. Forcing cone and firing pin area have all the original finish. There is a ghost drag line and a couple of minor handling marks, otherwise as new inside and out. Most likely sat in a vault as there are no signs of any wear and definitely no holster wear. 99% of the military applied finish remains on gun.
