Octagonal smooth bore barrel with centered rear sight surrounded by stars on both sides and brass front sight stamped with stars on both sides. Lock is in original flintlock configuration and has foliage engraved across entire lockplate and on cock. Brass furniture includes pierced brass four piece patchbox with engraved foliage and borders; full length engraved sideplate. Oval escutcheon engraved with a flower above cheekpiece and small brass cross shaped wrist escutcheon. Full length figured maple stock and wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Good; barrel retains a brown patina with some pitting around touch-hole and a few scattered marks from use. Lock excellent with dark, even patina. Brass retains a mellow patina with engraving showing some wear. Stock very good as refinished with some chipping around pins and barrel keys; small crack and chip around top lock retaining screw and a few small chips along forend on right side. Shortened during period of use.
