Octagonal over and under barrels, one rifled and one smoothbore, long tang with integrated rectangular silver escutcheon. Brass rib on each side with faceted brass ferrules and long brass tube behind ferrule closest to breeches on each side. Stamped "J. Kunz" on top flat, near breech of one barrel, breeches decorated with sunbursts on top flats, each barrel with a sight decorated en suite, one sight with flip up leaf. Silver front sights. Original percussion lock stamped "J. KUNZ" at rear. Bolster on each barrel, patent breech. Brass furniture including four piece pierced and engraved patchbox, rising sun on lid and flowers around each screw, otherwise featuring scattered scrolls. Toeplate engraved en suite and has a pineapple finial, replaced checkered bone patchbox lid release button. Highly figured maple stock is a contemporary replacement, rope decorated ramrods. CONDITION: Good condition, barrels retain re-browned finish with scattered areas of pitting and marks from use. Action excellent and retains a dark grey patina. Brass has a mellowing patina. Stock excellent, as replaced.
