Thick walled smoothbore two stage barrel signed "A*K" on top flat near breech for gunsmith Andrew Kliendienst. Stamp engraved flintlock lockplate stamped "M.M. MASLIN / WARRANTED". Brass furniture with sideplate engraved with broken line border otherwise plain. Full length figured maple stock with checkered wrist, wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark grey patina with some pitting around breech and clearly visible signature. Lock is in original flintlock configuration but may possibly be a second lock and retains a patina matching the barrel. Brass is unpolished. Sideplate is a possibly replacement. Stock is good with scattered marks from use, some minor age cracks, and some replaced wood along barrel on left side of forend and one small sliver on right side. There is a small chip behind the barrel tang and a filled hole on top of the checkering. A very nice rifle with attractive form.
