This revolver was originally built in 1917. We have no factory letter to determine if it is the original caliber and barrel length but all of the factory serial numbers are matching on frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Barrels and cylinders were not numbered during this period. This revolver was masterfully engraved in a scroll pattern with the punch dot background and nearly 100% coverage (at least D grade). The cylinder pin, frame screws, ejector housing, cylinder, hammer, and trigger have been gold plated. Has the proper two line barrel address for short barrel. Fitted with genuine mother of pearl grips with carved steer head on right side with ruby eyes. Frame has two line patent address. Indexes properly but does not have the four Colt clicks. Should be examined before firing by a competent gunsmith as the last click is missing and could cause the hammer to slip. CONDITION: Near new inside and out as custom finished. Strong, clean bore, still shiny with well defined lands and grooves. This is a showstopper of a cowboy style engraved World War I era colt.
