A strong competitor to the Colt Single Action Army, these heavy duty revolvers were manufactured from 1875-1889. This revolver was offered in the .44 Remington, the .45 Long Colt and the most popular .44-40 Winchester. Barrel stamped "E. Remington and Sons, Ilion, New York, USA". Serial number on grip frame under left walnut panel. Caliber .44 stamped on left side frame flat. CONDITION: This gun is in far better than most encountered examples, retaining full 90% of the original nickel finish with scattered light age freckling and typical nickel surface marks. Walnut stocks are excellent and appear to have been refinished at one time. Action indexes and locks up like new. There is very little cylinder burn indicating that this revolver saw very little actual use. Bore is near mint. Quite an exceptional example of a popular Wild West large bore revolver.
