A very high grade gun with sculpted action, this single barrel trap gun features a 1/3 octagon barrel, 2/3 round with raised ventilated rib which is matted and has a white mid-bead and red front bead. Bottom left of barrel marked "For 2-3/4" Shell" and bottom of barrel with proper proof marks and top sides of barrel marked "Joseph Lang & Son" on right and "102 New Bond Street, London" on left with small bursts of scroll on sides of lumps. The straight grip buttstock is nicely checkered in a two point pattern through the wrist with checkered side panels and has a tear drop behind panel. The butt is of finely figured European walnut with vacant gold oval near toe and terminates in a hardened black "White Lined" ventilated recoil pad. Large forearm is nicely checkered in 4 point pattern with Anson type push button release and engraved with nice rose and scroll. The finely sculpted and rebated action is case hardened and engraved in a beautifully executed rose and scroll pattern and marked "Joseph Lang & Son" on sides. The polish blued trigger plate is nearly fully engraved in scroll and flower pattern as is the rolled edge blued long tang trigger guard which has serial number at tang. Housed in a green felt lined full oak and leather case with original owners name "J.H. McLane / Chicago" on top. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains about 98% of what appears to be its original blue, markings are crisp. Stocks retain near all of their original finish with only light handling marks. There is a tiny chip on the interior of the forearm near the ejector which of absolutely no concern, but it is there. The checkering is crisp. Action retains about 90%+ original case color which is just beginning to tone. Mechanics are crisp, bore is brilliant and shiny. Case is very good with soiling to felt lining and drying on exterior leather. Overall, this is a really high quality gun, in excellent condition that will last many more lifetimes. An opportunity to show up to the 16 yard line with a time-honored classic!
