Circa 1880's, very rare, and seldom seen rabbit fur sombrero in a rare dark green color. Hat has a classic high crown (10"), wide rolled brim (5-1/2") with heavy embroidered gold bullion threaded floral motif and a 3-1/2" rolled brim covered in three dimensional gold and silver flowers and vine. The leather sweatband is stamped Real Russia Leather. The multi-colored cloth interior lining is frayed and the maker cartouche on the lining is illegible. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
