Circa 1895-1910, this is a scarce departure from the typical rabbit, beaver, or pressed felt varieties. This two-tone straw sombrero has a three-piece braided hatband with a leather stampede string with tassels appears to have been added later. The few broken warps do not impair the visual impact of such a large, scarce hat. Great display item with Pancho Villa era artifacts. From the Ray Bentley Collection.

Condition: (Good).

Item Dimensions: 22"W with a 9" crown and 10" rolled brim.
RARE EARLY 1900S STRAW MEXICAN SOMBRERO.
