This elementary register was affordable and appropriate to businesses that didn't need all of the functionality of the more expensive brass cash registers. The cash drawer was operated by inserting the proper "check", which were color coded with dollar amounts or register functions such as "No Sale", into the top middle slot just behind the glass. The dropping check triggers a small lever that releases the spring loaded drawer. The checks were counted at the end of the day as receipts. The cabinet is oak and the marquee is cast iron.
