There were 20,400 pistols of this model manufactured by Simeon North between 1819 and 1823. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "JDJ/P/US" on left side of breech and fitted in the front with a small brass half moon sight, oval rear sight on tang. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail section with no date and featuring a sliding safety bolt. The lack of a date denotes the first production run. Other features include a brass pan and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with partially visible "S. NORTH/U./eagle/S./MIDDLTN. CONN." Standard Model 1819 steel furniture. Nearly full-length, partially figured walnut stock with steel swivel type ramrod, left side of stock stamped behind sideplate with indistinct inspectors cartouche. CONDITION: Good overall, barrel and furniture cleaned bright with some scattered pitting, markings very good. Some corrosion on lockplate. Lock appears to be a good professional reconversion and has a brown finish. Stock has a few scattered marks from use.
