Beautiful little takedown rifle built on John Browning’s patent with 19" round barrel, original front sight and folding rear sight. Mounted with nicely figured European walnut that has skip-line checkered beavertail forearm and pistol grip stock with serrated steel buttplate. Receiver & trigger guard are beautifully deep engraved with large game scene panels on each side surrounded by marvelous, intertwined foliate arabesque patterns that has fine shaded background. Left vignette is of a setter and three pheasants in a woodland scene. Right vignette is a setter and three ducks in a marsh scene and top of receiver depicts a spaniel holding a fallen rabbit. Right side vignette appears double stamped “Marechal”. Trigger guard is engraved to match and trigger is gold washed. CONDITION: Very fine showing some very light field use. Action retains nearly all of its original finish with very minor staining noted and minor losses of gold on trigger. Barrel with about 97% original blue. There are a couple of small marks in the wood at the comb and forend but the gun is in overall superb original condition. These little .22's are a ball to shoot and have become increasingly collectible in the past decade.
