The frame serial number dates to 1934. Barrel is stamped "SA 3-39". National Match features include Star Gauge barrel, bolt polished in the white with etched matching serial number. Bolt is stamped "NS" for nickel steel. Stock has two arsenal return stamps: "AHA" for Springfield Armory "AAHO" for Augusta Arsenal. Stock is a double bolt, no finger groove scant stock; full length forearm with sight groove. Finish is military matte black oxide finish. All parts are milled. CONDITION: Retains 98% arsenal finish on both metal and wood. Appears unfired. ME reading: 0. TE reading: 1. It is our guess that this gun was built in 1934/35 and refurbished at one of the arsenals in 1939; or built in 1939 using an older receiver to National Match specifications. Beautiful, near mint late 1930's National Match. Most shooters and collectors consider the Springfields made between the wars to be the finest of them all since there was no war production taking precedence.
