Using the John Brunner book "The Colt Pocket Hammerless Automatic Pistols", he states that within this serial range, 2,828 were shipped to the OSS, 15 shipped to the Washington quartermaster office, and 5,216 to Springfield Armory. His comprehensive lists of General Officer's pistols issued does not list this serial number to a specific person. General finish moved from blued to parkerized at approximately serial number 562,000, making this example one of the last factory blued models. For all intents and purposes it is a standard classic Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless with the exception of the "US PROPERTY" stamp on right side of frame. It sports a pair of standard checkered walnut grips with gold medallion grips (usually seen in silver). Grips may be a replacement. Standard pre-war blued finish. CONDITION: Approximately 85% blue finish remains with overall high edge wear and some minor handling marks. Light age freckling. Fine action with near mint bore.
