Standard features include blued finish, half magazine, sporting sights, round barrel, half magazine, hooded ramp front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight, sling swivels, metal shotgun butt, checkered pistol grip walnut stock with cap and fluted comb, checkered walnut wide forend. Factory research shows serial number applied September 8th, 1942; no other information available. CONDITION: Homogeneous blue-brown patina on barrel. 90% blue on tube. 97% overall blue on frame with high edge wear only; one slightly marred screw on left side of frame. Wood is excellent with sharp checkering but usual mars. Fine action. Strong rifled bore. The tell-tale signs of a carbine are the short 2-1/4" ramp and short 8-1/2" forearm with flat muzzle. Far above average condition for a scarce first year post-War 71 carbine.
