This highly decorated child's rifle features a a blued fully octagonal barrel with sights mounted on top. Top flat inscribed "L.J. Gardner 05". The flat percussion lock is unmarked. The rifle has a brass trigger and a 12-5/8" pull. Stock is of highly figured maple and is ornately carved and decorated with finely engraved steel, brass and silver inlays. The nose cap is ebony and the buttplate tang is of bone. Skeleton buttplate of steel is inlaid flush. An open, oval patchbox is carved into the right side of butt and surrounded by engraved inlays. Left side of buttstock is carved with floral scrolls and relief cheek piece is decorated with moldings and scalloping. Complete with brass tipped wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Excellent condition showing little or no use. Displays beautiful craftsmanship and would make a fine child's presentation rifle.
