(1915) This very fine condition big bore shotgun has 36 - 1/8" dovetailed steel barrels engraved "Army & Navy C. S. Ld. London." on concave game rib with dolls head extension. Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 8 gauge and 2 oz of shot. W. & C Scott number "67498" is on loop. Case hardened large Jones under lever round bodied action is fitted with peninsula back spring locks having round bodied serpentine rebounding hammers. Action and locks are engraved with sprays of scroll within line borders. "A & N. C S Ld" is in scroll terminated riband on each lockplate. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Well streaked and lightly figured dense European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 - 5/8" over Silver pad. Flat top point pattern checkering is at grip and a vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching splinter forend with shaped steel tip attaches to barrels with sliding side bolt through oval escutcheons. CONDITION: Excellent, original, as found. Barrels retain approximately 90% original blue with some thinning on sides, silvering on sharp edges, and some scattered marks. Action retains approximately 90% original case hardening color, thinning on top tang, a bit around bottom, on opening lever, and trigger guard tang. Color is also thinning on tails of lockplates. Stocks retain over 90% original finish with some scattered staining and quite a few marks, both light and heavy. Checkering lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Locks are excellent. This is truly a superb steel barreled big bore with excellent dimensions. MGM195
