Musket variation of the famed Winchester Model 1866 rifle . Chambered for the rimfire .44 Henry cartridge and fitted with two piece American walnut stocks with sling swivels and musket buttplate made of brass with trap for cleaning rod. Post front sight that doubles as bayonet attachment for socket style bayonet and ladder adjustable rear sight. CONDITION: Fair. Barrel, bands, hammer, and lever are all turned a plum patina finish. The brass receiver and butt have a dark patina coloring. The wood stocks have numerous small bruises and compressions, as well as slight material loss at edges of butt and forearms. A minor crack is evident at tip of forearms as well as at rear of tang in butt. The bore is very dark but rifling does exist. The action operates properly and the rifle has a very honest antique appeal.
